Biography
Angelita Moraga has more than 15 years experience as a reporter, public relations professional, part-time producer, and educator in both the
Los Angeles and Chicago markets. She holds a degree in Communications from Cal State University, Fullerton and spent more than five years as a newspaper reporter in Orange County, California and Chicago.
During her time as an after-school educator, Angelita combined her background in journalism, public relations and education to produce and capture international media recognition for a youth-led play on non-violence. The high school dinner/theater, Hamlet in the Hood, was written up by the Associated Press and landed in more than 80 publications world-wide. Angelita returned home to California in 2006 to promote the performing and visual arts as a public relations/marketing consultant and occasional producer. She has worked on Cumbia de mi corazón in assocation with the Bilingual Foundation on the Arts in Los Angeles, ¡Viva La Raza! with Theatricum Botanicum, Showing Our Age with About Productions, and Hands on Therapy (independently produced at the Secret Rose Theatre in North Hollywood). She served as a Latino Marketing Consultant for the Los Angeles Run of the 1st National Tour of the Tony Award Winning Broadway Musical, In the Heights and as an assistant Latino Outreach Consultant for the Los Angeles Run of the 2010-2011 National Tour of West Side Story. In the summer of 2011, Angelita worked with the Independent Shakespeare Company as a consultant for the company's 'Players in the Park/Jugamos en el parque' educational program at Griffith Park. In addition, she assisted with marketing at Salsa dance venues for actor/comedian John Leguizamo's Broadway comedy show, Ghetto Klown. She is currently on the marketing team for the upcoming theater project Evangeline, the Queen of Make-Believe co-written by Louie Perez of Los Lobos, premiering in May 2012.
